Defendant Acquitted of Gangland Murder.
The defendant was charged with several others, all said to be part of an Organised Crime Group (OCG), involved in the supply and importation of Class A drugs.
The prosecution case was, that there was an ongoing gangland feud between two groups both heavily armed, involving multiple shootings and violence over many years. It was said that the defendant and others had been deploying sophisticated surveillance techniques tracking the movements of gang members via hidden trackers on their vehicles, culminating in the head of the opposing gang being located and shot multiple times. It was said that this was a carefully coordinated murder using a hired underworld hitman to deliver multiple shots resulting in murder. The police operation was large scale and detailed. The defendant was Acquitted of murder after a trial that lasted many months at Manchester Crown Court.
